GOVERNMENT HOUSE.
HONGKONG. 30th. August, 1918.
:
I have the honour to inform you that lir.
E. J. Pierpoint will shortly retire from the post of Chief Warder of Victoria Gool, and I have had under consideration the appointment of his successor.
2.
The only two possible candidates are Kr. A. G. Passmore and Mr. F. A. Piesse. Mr. Passmore joined the service as Warder on the 11th. August, 1897, and became a Principal Worder on the 8th. April, 1902. Mr. Piesse joined the service as a Warder on the 5th. March, 1902, and became a Principal Warder on the 15th. February, 1911. Both the Superintendent and Assistant Superintendent are of opinion that Mr. Piesse is better suited for the post of Chie Warder
thm is Mr. Passmore. The latter's state of health is not
satisfactory, he is of poor physique and has little control
over men. On the other hand Mr. Piesse has an excellent record
and I recommend his appointment on twelve months probation.
I have the honour to be,
sir.
Your most obedient, humble servant,
Governor,&c..
RIGHT HONOURABLE WALTER LONG, M.P.
